Juventus edge closer to retaining Serie A title

Champions Juventus moved a step to retaining their Serie A title after victory over second-placed Napoli, with both sides reduced to 10 men.

Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret got sent off with a straight red card after tripping Cristiano Ronaldo.

Then Miralem Pjanic scored from spectacular free-kick resulting from the red.

Emre Can headed a second goal few moments later, before Pjanic got a dismissed after a deliberate handball.

Jose Callejon got a goal back for the home team, Napoli would have leveled in the closing moment but Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne missed a spot-kick, hitting the post.

The penalty was awarded after the referee consulted the VAR and the pitch-side monitor following a Fabian Ruiz’s cutback which hit Alex Sandro’s arm.

Juventus are now 16 points clear off second-placed Napoli.
