VAR factor in Real Madrid win at Levante

Real’s defender Nacho was sent off late in the game for a second yellow.

Levante also got their midfielder Ruben Rochina dismissed from the bench two minutes before stoppage time after protesting referee’s decision.

He picked up a booking before he got subbed-off 60th minute, the second booking and a red was issued to him on bench.

The result moves Real to nine points behind the leaders Barcelona as they head into two consecutive Clasicos:

A Copa del Rey second leg in Madrid on Wednesday, the first leg at Camp Nou ended in a 1-1 draw.

Then Real Madrid host Barcelona again on Saturday in a La Liga tie.

Levante fans felt a real sense of injustice as their side, who drop to 13th in La Liga, lost after a commendable performance and whistled the referee at every opportunity.
