Chelsea cruised into the the Europa League last 16 with victory over Malmo at Stamford Bridge after a very slow start. The first leg ended 2-1 in favour of the Blues.
It was a slow start for Maurizio Sarri’s men as the first half ended goalless, but they improved after the break.
Chelsea scored their first goal 10 minutes into the second. After a headed clearance from a Malmo defender, Kante outpaced two Malmo men to the ball and sprints at the defense.
He passes to Willian on the left and Olivier Giroud taps into an empty net a his first-time cross from the Brazilian.
Malmo were reduced to 10 men after a second booking for Rasmus Bengtsson.
Ross Barkley clipped over the wall the free-kick resulting from the sent-off, it curled away from the goalkeeper Johan Dahlin into the net.
Then Hudson-Odoi, 18, sealed the victory with a third goal, six minutes before stoppage time.
He drove into the area and before the keeper could get set the winger hammers a shot across goal.
Chelsea’s next two matches – against Manchester City in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, and Tottenham in the Premier League next week – will be bigger tests.
