Real Madrid 1-2 Girona
Girona shock Real Madrid at home after coming from a goal down to secure an away victory. Also, an injury time red card to Ramos as Real missed the chance to go second in La Liga.
Casemiro gave Real a 25th minute lead with a powerfully headed in from Toni Kroos’ deep cross.
But a second half penalty goal from Cristhian Stuani made it 1-1. A penalty awarded after Sergio Ramos handled the ball.
Portugués Manzanera (Portu) scored to give the visitors a 75th minute winner with a diving header after Anthony Lozano’s shot had been parried.
Sergio Ramos was sent off in injury time for a second yellow card offence. His initial booking came after the penalty he conceded, and he received his second when his overhead kick attempt caught Girona’s Pedro Alcala.
The red card was Ramos’ 19th La Liga career, more than any other player in the Spanish top flight.
It was another talking moment for the Real captain, who is already under investigation by Uefa on whether he deliberately got booked in their first leg of Champions League last-16 tie win against Ajax. So as to receive a suspension now and not later on in the competition.
