Malmo 1-2 Chelsea
Chelsea secured a slender victory over Malmo in Sweden for the first leg of their last 32 of the Europa League.
Chelsea scored at the half-an-hour mark, Pedro puts over a fine cross which Lasse Nielsen should head away but tries to volley instead and misses the ball.
Ross Barkley takes it down with one touch and stabs in his first European goal.
Then two minutes before the hour mark Olivier Giroud flicked into the net using his back-heel after a lovely cuts-back and a cross across the goal from William.
After a much subdued second half Malmo made it a nervy ending for the Blues after Andreas Christensen slid in a goal past Kepa 80th minute following a perfect pass from Markus Rosenberg.
The victory is a great recovery for Chelsea who were under pressure after a 6-0 thrashing by Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
Chelsea are still unbeaten in the Europa League this season and the second leg is at Stamford Bridge on 21 February.
