Champions League: Zaniolo scored twice as Roma secured first leg advantage over Porto

Nicolo Zaniolo’s double earned Roma a victory over Porto giving them an advantage in their Champions League last-16 first leg.

After a goalless first half, three goals were scored late in the second half within nine minutes.

Nicolo Zaniolo¬†scored his first goal of the match 70th minute after he controlled Edin Dzeko’s pass, shooting low past Iker Casillas.

The teenager РNicolo, was signed from Inter Milan for £4m (4.5m euros) in the summer as part of the £33m move that took Radja Nainggolan in the other direction.

He doubled their lead from six yards after Dzeko’s 20-yard shot hit the post.

But Porto pulled one back 79th minute from Adrian Lopez, giving the visitors a vital away goal.

It is a first defeat for Porto after winning their last five Champions League matches in the group stages.

The second leg in Porto is on Wednesday, 6 March.
