Manchester City 6-0 Chelsea
Sergio Aguero scored his 11th Premier hat-trick and became joint top Premier League hat-trick hero with Alan Shearer as Manchester City thrashed Chelsea to return to the top of the table in an outstanding performance at Etihad Stadium.
The home team scored four goals within 25 minutes as Chelsea were humiliated and received their worst defeat since they lost 7-0 at Nottingham Forest in April 1991.
Kevin De Bruyne started the rout four minutes into the game when he caught Chelsea’s defense napping by quick free-kick, Raheem Sterling fired in at the far post, scoring the opener.
Sergio Aguero curled in from 25 yards a right-foot finish past the stretching Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Six minutes later Aguero scored his second of the game, after Ross Barkley headed straight into the feet of the Argentine who poked home a great finish.
Ilkay Gundogan capitalized on a defensive error by Antonio Rudiger – his attempt to clear the ball met with Gundogan’s feet, who made it fourth for City with a low shot.
Aguero scored a penalty to complete his hat-trick after 56 minutes after Cesar Azpilicueta’s foul on Sterling.
This is Aguero’s 15th treble for City and 11th in the Premier League, equaling Alan Shearer’s record.
Raheem Sterling completed Chelsea’s humiliating stat with the sixth, after a pass from Oleksandr Zinchenko.
