Air accident investigators confirmed that a body has been recovered from the wreckage of the plane carrying the Cardiff City footballer Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson on board.
The plane was found at the bottom of the English Channel, off Guernsey following the disappearance Sala and pilot David’s Piper Malibu N264DB aircraft, which went missing on January 21.
The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) has announced the body seen in the wreckage of the plane carrying Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson has been “successfully recovered”
It was carried out in “as dignified a way as possible” and the men’s families were kept updated throughout. It said “The body is currently being taken to Portland to be passed into the care of the Dorset Coroner.”
But investigator are yet to publicly confirm the identity of the body recovered. The AAIB also confirmed that they abandon attempt to recover the wreckage due to bad weather conditions. and recovery mission is now over.
AAIB said “The weather forecast is poor for the foreseeable future and so the difficult decision was taken to bring overall operation to a close”
