Manchester City blew the opportunity to reduce the gap on the Premier League leaders as Newcastle came from a goal down to record a remarkable win over the defending champions at St James’ Park.

Two defensive mistakes cost Pep Guardiola’s side the chance to close the gap on Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table to one point. The Reds face Leicester at home on Wednesday.
