Barcelona 3-1 Leganes
The substitute Lionel Messi helps Barcelona beat Leganes to maintain their five-point advantage at the top of La Liga table but Ousmane Dembele injury will be the main concern of Camp Nou.
Ernesto Valverde decided to rest Lionel Messi and started Phillipe Coutinho who failed to make impact once again. Also in the starting line ups were Carles Alena and Thomas Vermaelen. But he will be happy that they secured all three points.
Ousmane Dembele delivered his best perforance, scoring the opener 32 minutes into the match. But was taken out after he sustained an ankle injury after 69 minutes.
Martin Braithwaite leveled for the visitors 57th minute.
Lionel Messi came off the bench just after the hour mark to inspire a victory as Luis Suarez converted on the rebound after the initial long range effort was saved. Then Messi scored an injury time goal to ensure that there is no way back for the visitors.
Suarez appeared to have fouled the Leganes goalkeeper as Barcelona scored their second goal, but the referee did not check the VAR. Minutes later, the goalkeeper – Cuellar tried to get some vengeance on the Uruguayan but the referee did not see it.
