Harry Kane out with ankle injury until end of March

Harry Kane got injured during the Tottenham vs Manchester United match on Sunday

Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane will not feature until March following the ankle ligaments injury he sustained in Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League defeat by Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur say that Kane will return to training in early March.

Kane’s injury happened when he was caught between United’s Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof late in the game at Wembley.

Kane has scored a total of 20 goals this season with 14 Premier League goals – joint top scorer with Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, he is likely to miss both legs of the Champions League last-16 tie with Borussia Dortmund.

He will not feature in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea on 24 January.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said after the match: “It was a clear foul on Harry Kane, a big hit. [Referee] Mike Dean said he didn’t see it.”

It will be tough times for Spurs losing their top scorer and Son Heung-Min who is the second top scorer for the club with 12 goals is currently on International duty with South Korea at the Asia Cup in United Arab Emirates. He might not be available until February depending on South Korea performnce in the tounament which ends in 1 February 2019.

Spurs are set to be without Kane against Chelsea and Arsenal on 27 February and 2 March respectively. third in the Premier League – nine points behind leaders Liverpool – look set to be without Kane for the games against Chelsea and Arsenal

France midfielder Moussa Sissoko was replaced in the first half against United with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Tottenham’s back-up strikers are Fernando Llorente, who has scored four goals in 13 appearances this season, and Vincent Janssen, who has not played for the first team since August 2017.
