Liverpool extend their lead on top of the table as Virgil van Dijk scored first for the Reds

Wolves 0-2 Liverpool

Mohamed Salah’s early goal and Virgil van Dijk’s first goal extend Liverpool’s lead by four points.

Liverpool beat Wolves to remain unbeaten in this Premier League season.

Mohamed Salah gave the Reds the lead with his 18th minute flick with outside of boot from Fabinho’s cross. The Egyptian forward scored his 11th goal of the season to move top of the English Premier League top scorers’ sheet

Virgil van Dijk scored Liverpool’s second; scoring his first goal in the Premier League after his side-footed volley from Salah’s lift over the defence.

According to BBC Sports:

“Liverpool’s victory ensures they top the table on Christmas day with four points ahead of Manchester City, who will play tomorrow when they host Crystal Palace. Eight of the past nine teams to have led the league on 25 December have gone on to win the title. The one side that did not was Liverpool in 2013-14 – they finished second, two points behind Manchester City.”

Maybe this time Liverpool will break the jinx.
