Shaqiri’s double against Manchester United send Liverpool back to the top

Shaqiri scored two late goals to send Liverpool top. Paul Pogba did not feature in the clash

Two late goals from Xherdan Shaqiri gave Liverpool victory over their rival Manchester United and send them back to the top of the Premier League.

Paul Pogba was unused as a substitute on United’s bench throughout the match.

Liverpool took the lead 24th-minute Sadio Mane chest-control volley finish from Fabinho’s delivery, but United equalized nine minutes later as Jesse Lingard scored from Romelu Lukaku’s cross after an error by goalkeeper Alisson.

United were pegged back to their side most of the second hand but Liverpool failed to breakthrough until Shaqiri  was introduced less than 20 minutes left. Xherdan Shaqiri  scored two deflected goals after 144 seconds

Liverpool restored their lead on top of the Premier League table with the win.
