Manchester United 1-0 Young Boys
Marouane Fellaini’s injury-time goal gave Manchester United a dramatic win over Young Boys, ended their Old Trafford goal drought and sent them into the last 16 of the Champions League.
After much struggle to breakdown Young Boys’ defense – 21 efforts on goal and only 4 on target, it was Fellaini’s injury-time goal that secured the winner for the home team and ensure the qualify for the knockout stage.
Fellaini collected Romelu Lukaku’s flick in the box from Luke Shaw’s pass, held off Loris Benito and, with the ball touching his hand in the process, turned to fire into the bottom corner.
As soon as the goal was scored Jose Mourinho wild flinging a basket full of water bottles to the floor in celebration.
Both United and Juventus qualify for the last 16 as Juventus beat Valencia to remain top of Group H. Manchester United will play against Valencia for their final game with a chance of topping the group if they win and Juventus lose.
When asked about the acclaimed handball leading to the goal Fellaini responded “For me it was not handball, I controlled the ball, if it touched my hand it was not on purpose.”
