BATE Borisov 0-1 Chelsea
Chelsea progressed into the knockout rounds of the Europa League after a contentious battle against BATE in Belarus. They maintained a perfect start leading Group L with 12 points. Giroud’s scored the only goal of the game.
It was a difficult game with Chelsea dominating most part of the game but failed to convert, it took a 52nd cross from Emerson which was headed-in by Oliver Giroud to separate both sides, his first goal of the season as Chelsea maintain a 100% win in their Europa League start of the season.
Maurizio Sarri was not happy with the result but full of praise for Giroud who scored his first goal under the new Chelsea manager. “I’m pleased for him,” Sarri said. “I know strikers want to score. And so for his confidence, I think it’s very important.
