First win for Interim coach Santiago Solari

Real Madrid win their first game under the interim coach – Santiago Solari, who became the coach after Lopetegi was fired on Monday.  It was a comfortable 4-0 win over a third division club – Melilla in a 1st leg Copa del Rey round of 32 match on Wednesday.

Solari was on the bench and in control as goals from Benzema, Marco Asensio, Alvaro Odriozola and Cristo Gonzalez cruised Madrid to victory. This was Madrid’s first game after an embarrassing 5-1 defeat by their arch-rival – Barcelona at Camp Nou Stadium making it 5th loss in seven matches in all competition.

Karem Benzema scored an opener 28th minute making it his 6th goal of the season. Marco Asensio doubled their lead just before the break after a great pass from Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius Junior also setup the 3rd goal 79th minute with a pass to Alvaro Odriozola and Cristo Gonzalez sealed the win with an injury time goal.

Solari was a former Madrid and Argentina midfielder, he has won two Champions League and two La Liga cups with Real Madrid  and prior to his current position was  coaching Real Madrid’s B team.
