Porto beat Lokomotiv Moscow 3-1 on after a shaky start on Wednesday to go top of Group D of the Champions League.

Porto’s defense struggled throughout the game. Early in the game Iker Casillas saved a penalty and a goal-line clearance kept Porto from going behind.

Moussa Marega of Porto scored the first goal 26th-minute, through a penalty after a foul by Lokomotiv’s Eder.

Jesus Corona crossed to his fellow Mexican –  Hector Herrera who scored with a header in the 35th.

Lokomotiv reduced the deficit three minutes later as Alexei Miranchuk cut the ball back for his twin brother Anton Miranchuk who struck home into the top corner. This was Lokomotiv’s first Champions League goal since February 2004.

Jesus Corona scored the last goal of the match 47th minute through Yacine Brahimi’s pass.

The hope for any come back for Lokomotiv was dashed when Solomon Kverkvelia received a straight red card after his reckless tackle on Herrera 76th minute of the game.

Porto top Group D with seven points, two ahead of Schalke and three ahead of Galatasaray. A win over Lokomotiv next game would put Porto on the verge of qualifying for the next round.

Galatasaray drew 0-0 with Schalke in the other Group D game.
