Loftus-Cheek scores three times to give Chelsea a victory over Bate Borisov on Thursday Europa League game. According to BBC Sports, the England midfielder became “the first English player to score European hat-trick for Chelsea since 29 September 1971, when Peter Osgood scored five goals and Tommy Baldwin netted three against Luxembourg’s Jeunesse Hautcharage in the Cup Winners’ Cup.” Chelsea won their first three group games in a major European competition for the first time since the 2010-2011 Champions League Campaign (see highlight).

Chelsea dominated the game with about 70% possession; the 22 year old scored the opener with the first 2 minutes of the game through a low cross from Davide Zappacosta.

Loftus-Cheek doubled their lead six minutes later from a corner kick supplied by Willian. The midfielder then completed his hat-trick just after the break with a right footed shot from outside the box. Aleksei Rios scored a consolation for the visitors and the game ended 3-1.

The other Group L game: PAOK Salonika 0-2 Mol Vidi. Chelsea earned 9 points in 3 games and top Group L Table six points clear of the rest.
