Riyad Mahrez was unable to convert a golden opportunity to send Manchester City clear at the top of the Premier League due to his late penalty miss in goalless draw against Liverpool. Mahrez also missed some other big chances in a game and failed to live up to expectations.

This stalemate means that both teams have joined Chelsea on eight unbeaten league run. The three teams are level on 20 points only separated by goal difference, see the League Table .

The three Liverpool potent strikers: Salah, Mane and Firmino failed to impress against Manchester City. They were all high scoring last season but has found this season tough so far.

Gary Neville on skysports said “This Liverpool team their greatest strength is their ability to sprint quickly, press quickly, transition quickly but when they don’t have that they lose a lot,” He compared what happened today as a replica of Liverpool’s performance against Chelsea that there is “a big drop off in quality between Mane, Salah, Firmino and the ones below.” But the Liverpool manager – Klopp said he is fine with Liverpool’s performance.
