EFL CUP – THIRD ROUND:Liverpool succumb to first defeat as Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and the rest go through Fourth Round

Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea

Liverpool dumped out of Caraboa cup from Eden Hazard’s stunning late goal. After a goalless first half, Liverpool scored early second half through Daniel Sturridge. But Chelsea scored two late goals from Emerson Palmieri (79th minute) and Eden Hazard (85th minute) to secure a win and progressed into the EFL 4th round.

Arsenal 3-1 Brentford

As expected Arsenal dominated the match against Brentford. Danny Welbeck scored twice in the first. An early second half goal from Alan Judge gave the visitors a slight hope but a late goal from Alexandre Lacazette ensured that Arsenal secured a place for the 4th round.

Tottenham 2-2 Watford (Tottenham win 4-2 on Penalties):

Tottenham fought hard after going a goal down from an early second half scored by Watford Player – Isaac Success. Christian Kabasele of Watford was sent off for fouling Dele Alli, who scored the resulting penalty. Erik Lamela scored again putting Spurs ahead, but Etienne Capoue’s  stoppage time goal took it to penalties. Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga saved twice in the shootout after which Dele Alli scored the winner.

Everton vs Southampton will be played on Tuesday 2nd October, 2018.
