Watford started well in first half scoring the first goal within 8 minutes of the kickoff time with a free header from Okaka, Liverpool responded. An equalizer from Sadio Mane just about 30 minutes into the game ensured a comeback for Liverpool. But a 32nd minute goal from  Abdoulaye Doucoure  left Watford leading the match by 2 goals to 1 by the end of first half.

Liverpool were dominant throughout the second half scoring 2 goals in 2 minutes just before the hour mark; a penalty from Roberto Firmino and a debut goal from Mohamed Salah. At this stage Watford looked weak until the late drama which earned them a draw.
